Assist the principal investigator in gathering scientific data to conduct funded research, prepare and submit grant applications, and submit publications to further the research success of the laboratory. 1) Assist with collection of biological materials and their preparation for molecular and microscopy assessments 2) Perform molecular experiments with qPCR and immunochemistry combined with confocal microscopic analysis; 3) Employ advanced computer skills to process and analyze mass spectrometry datasets; 4) Assist with other assays and endpoint assessments in the laboratory. The individual must be prepared to perform detailed laboratory protocols and keep excellent experimental records.

The individual will also assist the PI in maintaining the laboratory space, records, stocks, and supplies. Other related research duties may be assigned as appropriate. The individual must be able to work with others in the group, expecting to help out others and receive help in kind.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. BS degree in a chemical, informatics, biological, or related discipline or equivalent work experience; 2) require expertise with laboratory instrumentation; 3) Require advanced computer competency (beyond general Office and web applications), with bioinformatics experience a plus; 4) proficient at conducting highly detailed, methodological type experiments and able to keep detailed notes; 5) excellent oral and written communication skills required; 6) ability to work in a diverse environment; 7) willingness to work with research animals.
