Job Description

Position PURPOSE:

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting quality analysis of calibration standards used in the Lighthouse headspace gas analyzer product line and for supporting measurement service projects for clients in the pharmaceutical industry.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct quality analysis of customer calibration standards fabricated by Lighthouse
  • Support customer Measurement Services Projects
    • Collect and analyze data using Lighthouse core technology of laser spectroscopy
    • Generate reports to present results to clients
  • Participate in experimental investigations for new application development
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and laboratory quality system
  • Support other functional department activities as assigned by management including:
    • Technical writing projects (application notes, white papers) in support of marketing
    • Instrument installation and validation in support of sales

  • Interacts with Technical Support Specialist, Applications Engineer and Research Assistant

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required: AS Physical or Life Sciences
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Laboratory experience or coursework

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • $30,000-$50,000 DOE

VIEW JOBS 10/31/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-29T00:00 The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics in the School of Medicine is seeking a Laboratory and Research Technician 2 to work in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) laboratory. The technician will provide laboratory support by performing experiments and other duties under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Some experiments will be with established human tissue culture cell lines and thus will be considered BSL2. Technician will also be expected to work as a team and help with the day-to-day task of maintaining equipment, supplies, cleanliness and record keeping. Position requires a Bachelor's in Microbiology, Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related science obtained prior to start date. Laboratory experience in an academic lab setting obtained as a student or post-graduate is required, as is experience with standard bacteriology, molecular biology, tissue culture and western blotting. Experience with standard molecular biology procedures, basic microbiology, work with bacterial pathogens and handling of Level 2 biosafety and sterility techniques are also required. Applicants must have the ability to perform or learn to work with small animal models, work accurately and independently with attention to detail, plan and execute tasks and experiments. The ability to follow established protocols and keep detailed records is essential. A minimum of two years of laboratory experience obtained at the bench is preferred.
