Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This position will help submitting veterinarians diagnose illnesses by conducting routine microbiological tests. Duties may include initial setup of samples, reading/analyzing culture plates from submitted samples, subculturing and identification of significant isolates. The position will assist with maintaining quality control within the laboratory section and be responsible for data entry of case results.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Experience in a laboratory environment.
Experience in Biology and/or Microbiology.
Ability to utilize/analyze computer data, and the ability to enter data.
Ability to work well with a team.
Some weekend and holiday work is involved.

Duties/Responsibilities
Primary inoculation of the samples received for bacterial and or fungal culture.
Subculture of significant bacteria and set up tests on isolates.
Interpret results for identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
Percentage of time 50 Duties/Responsibilities
Assist in reading and recording daily temperatures for the incubators, refrigerators and freezers.
Maintain daily rotation of stored completed refrigerated samples.
Assist in maintaining quality control, quality assurance, and standard operating protocols in the laboratory.
Assist with ongoing research projects.
