Lab Technician- Decatur, IL

This is a full time, non-exempt level position.

Position Summary:

  • Collection and distribution of samples followed by physical testing of production samples

  • Daily calibration of standard lab instruments as well as the recording and interpreting said test results

  • Verifying sufficient inventory of testing supplies

  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory environment

  • Maintains samples of tested product in order to confirm test results when necessary

  • Performs light maintenance and calibration on all ADM laboratory equipment

  • Maintains ongoing records of the results of all testing procedures and inputs such data into computer daily

  • Maintains necessary supplies used for testing and notifies the supervisor of the need to re-order such supplies

  • Continually compares test results with standards as required to ensure that all flour is within specification

  • Notifies to appropriate colleagues when product is not within specification

Job Requirements:

  • Understands most production processes required in the production of flour and how it would relate to analysis being performed

  • Maintains a neat and clean working area at all times, washing equipment as required and placing equipment in the required storage areas

  • Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees

  • Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements

  • Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines

  • Handles various chemicals in assorted containers in the manner outlined in the manufacturer's chemical Material Safety Data Sheet

  • Informs supervisor immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or acts while additionally reporting any accidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor immediately

  • Recommends solutions to accurate deficiencies or improve work and operational practices and participates actively in training

  • Reports to work in a condition to be able to perform all duties and practices cleanly personal hygiene

  • Familiarizes themselves with the hazards in their work area and how to protect themselves

  • Understands that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone's responsibility

  • Dedication to ADM's goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety procedures

  • Exhibit regular and timely attendance

  • Building relations and cross training with other Laboratory managers

  • Work shift may include nights, weekends, and holidays

Learn more at www.adm.com. Instrumentation & Electrical Tech – Decatur Complex - Decatur IL This is an hourly position. Position Summary: You can expect to be placed at any one of the Decatur Complex facilities. This position could be in a union or non-union facility. This I&E technician will utilize developed skills to implement assigned activities of predictive, preventive, or planned maintenance programs designed to support the power, motor control, process control, or pneumatic systems of the plant. Essential Job Functions: * Actively champion and promote all safety related policies and programs to ensure colleague engagement and commitment to the benefits of working safe * Actively participate in planned, preventative, and/or predictive maintenance activities that support the electrical and process control systems * Ability perform independently or as a team member to trouble-shoot, diagnose, and propose/implement electrical power, control equipment, and component repair solutions that may or may not be included in planned work * Comprehend and implement standard electrical work practices and guidelines to include those outlined by such organizations as the National Fire Protection Agency (NEC) and the IEEE to insure a quality and compliance * Utilize the functions of the maintenance management system to facilitate job plans, record maintenance activities on plant assets, and communicate status updates and support on assigned maintenance tasks * Understands their role in food and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts to ensure all activities conform to good manufacturing practices * Responsible for utilizing the Performance Excellence process Job Qualifications: * Committed to ADM's goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety procedures * Possess basic knowledge of AC/DC circuit theory, process sensors/transmitters, and electrical safety devices (breakers, fuses, etc.) * 2-4 years instrumentation experience and/or equivalent degree or schooling (industrial or commercial setting); able to run conduit, troubleshoot, read blue prints * Excellent communication & organizational skills; able to collaborate with colleagues and management teams to complete assignments in a timely manner * Willing to improve technical skills through on-the-job and/or outside training * Willing to work shift and weekends and available for on-call, after hours needs * Extensive knowledge and experience with our CMMS (Maximo) * Detailed understanding of Food Manufacturing Plant Operation and Maintenance * Basic knowledge using a HART communicator and laptop to communicate with instruments is preferred Archer Daniels Midland Company Decatur IL
