Laboratory Technician Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants
As a member of the Silanes Global Technology team the successful candidate will join a team of chemists and engineers in the design and development of new and existing products for the Coatings, Adhesives & Sealants (CAS) market that will drive significant business growth for Momentive. The person will have a background in chemistry or material science. Experience in the development and evaluation of new product technologies for the CAS market is desirable.
Working under general supervision, the candidate for this position will be responsible for the laboratory-scale testing and evaluations of new and proprietary silane or silicone-based products in CAS compositions. This will include chemical analysis and physical testing of raw materials and of compositions containing these materials plus the preparation of fully formulated products and the evaluation of the performance of these under a variety of conditions and applications and according to specified protocols. He/she will conduct all necessary calculations and record experimental data and observations in an organized laboratory notebook. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing tables, charts, graphs and written summaries of experimental results. The candidate must also maintain a safe and orderly laboratory work environment at all times.
B.S./B.A. in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent through job-related work experience and training)
1-4 year experience in the development and evaluation of new product technologies in the CAS market is desirable.
Familiarity with basic chemical and physical analysis and characterization techniques
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a global cross-functional team environment with strong customer focus
Working knowledge of standard PC applications
Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Material Science or Polymer Science
