Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a member of the Quality Control (QC) team, you will contribute through the completion of all assigned and routine laboratory related tasks in compliance with AZ, GMP & SHE standards. You key accountabilities will include:

  • Ethical conduct and compliance

  • Provide support services for analysts and chemists in the quality control laboratory including cleaning and maintaining the general laboratory facilities and glassware, ordering laboratory chemicals and supplies, and inventory management

  • Perform sampling of raw materials, purified water, and compressed air for testing.

  • Accurately complete all data entry requirements for methods or tasks performed and reviewing data for completeness and accuracy.

  • Prepare solutions and standards per Procedures, Analytical Procedures and/or SOPs, with appropriate documentation

  • Clean and maintain the general laboratory facilities and notify appropriate maintenance personnel as eeded

  • May fulfill other jobs/responsibilities as directed by management consistent with skill level and training

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associates Degree, preferably in the chemical or biological sciences with previous experience in a pharmaceutical laboratory

  • Must be able to perform activities to support QC sampling activities including moving raw material drums, operating pallet jacks, and working in areas with limited access and on cat-walks around production equipment.

  • Must be able to retrieve, dispense, and dispose of chemicals and reagents according to according to approved procedures.

  • Must be adequately trained in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP and GMP) standards and be able to legibly and accurately complete all forms and/or notebooks.

  • Must be able to attain proficiency in using ZS Pharma analytical applications required for the completion of assigned tasks.

  • Must be able to work at a lab bench or hood and perform the necessary procedures required for sample preparations and clean-up using the current prescribed or validated methodologies

This role is a 7pm-7am Night Shift role with rotating days on/off. Candidates must be able to work this shift to be considered. The Process Engineer-Shift role is responsible for providing on-shift technical support for operations and act as subject matter expert for process operations. Responsibilities will include initiating root cause investigations, providing technical support to operations team while escalating when needed, act as operations liaison with engineering team, actively seek process improvement ideas, and work on improvement projects. Key Accountabilities: * Work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate capability to adapt to new, different, or changing requirements. Display strong moral principles and work ethics while demonstrating initiative. Maintain a professional presence and display responsible behaviors. * Develops conceptual strategies, processing schemes, feasibility studies, PFD's, and detailed scopes of work. * Identify and execute projects to increase safety, reduce product cost, improve product quality, improve yield, and reduce material usage. * Work on several different projects and be able to prioritize these projects. * Assists in developing control strategy and instrument process design, including emergency and shutdown procedures, instrument specification sheets, control ranges, alarm points, and automation strategy. * Authors, updates, reviews, and approves area procedures and master batch records to ensure correct content and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices. * Designs studies, executes experiments and perform data analysis. * Writes study proposals, progress reports, development reports, and various technical memo's. * Evaluates new technologies to improve the commercial production process. * Supports scale up activities from R&D to production. * Provides miscellaneous overhead support of facility. * Supports the assurance of a robust manufacturing process for the current registered process as experience is gained post launch. * Sets up robust process for trouble shooting. * Acts as an effective change agent. * Acts as a key player for the expansion of projects as needed to increase scale of manufacture. * Investigate deviations from standards of manufacturing process using effective root cause analysis tools. Recommending and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions. * Generating, evaluating, and implementing innovative and creative solutions. * Assist as subject matter expert for technical projects. * Capable of generating a project scope and cost plan to effectively draft a capital request. * Develops product and process knowledge in multiple process train areas. * Contributes to equipment URS development and retrofit. Participates in equipment FAT's, SAT's, etc. * Participate in Quality Risk Assessments and process hazards analysis activities. Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required * Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or other related technical discipline with direct chemical processing experience preferably in a pharmaceutical production environment. * Capability of working 12 hours shifts and every other weekend. Night shift engineer capable of working nights. * Ability to read P&ID's, Process Flow Diagrams, and perform mass and energy balances.
