Laboratory Technician 8-E10 - Pesticides Section

About this Position:

Perform the collection and shipment of samples for the Pesticide Data Program.  Drive up to 100-450 miles per day, 1 day per week.

  Sample sites are located in metropolitan Detroit and throughout the state.  Perform sample preparation techniques necessary for the analysis of pesticide residues in food and environmental samples.  Perform complete established sample preparation procedures including addition of quality control standards, extraction, clean up, and evaporation procedures used by the section.

 Setup of sample and standard vials for instrument analysis.  Perform equipment monitoring and verification measurements.   Maintain supplies and sample storage areas.  Maintain accurate records and logs according to USDA PDP protocol, including data entry into USDA Remote Data Entry program and Division LIMS.

Education

Possession of an associate's degree in engineering technology, the physical or biological sciences, or a related field.

Experience

Laboratory Technician 8

No specific type or amount is required.

Laboratory Technician 9

One year of experience equivalent to a Laboratory Technician 8.

Laboratory Technician E10

Two years of experience equivalent to a Laboratory Technician, including one year equivalent to a Laboratory Technician 9.

Laboratory Technician E10

Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher with 16 semester (24 term) credits in job specific or related course work may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
