Summary of Position:#The Laboratory Technical Associate (LTA) under direct supervision of Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Manager, assumes responsibility for performance of specimen processing and send out testing. Accepts responsibility for recognizing problems that require referral to Department Manager.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates technical expertise and competence for all assigned jobs.# Performs tasks according to SOP. Determines acceptability of specimens, maintains positive identification, and documents any discrepancies. Maintains competency in category B shipping of infectious materials. Assists staff and providers with information pertaining to outsourced testing. Ensures reference laboratory testing meets established turn-around times. Triages calls independently as appropriate, provides courteous, prompt and complete follow-up to customer inquiries and communication.# Provides maintenance of non-analytic equipment including timers, pipettes, and centrifuges. Orders inventory and maintains minimum stocking levels in department. Reconciles department outstanding in a timely manner. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree, A.A.S (MLT or Clinical Laboratory Sciences), NYS (CLS), enrolled in a Bachelor#s Medical Laboratory Science program within one year of graduation or a non-science Bachelor#s Degree with 2 years experience as a Saratoga Hospital Laboratory Support Specialist. Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while utilizing critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job.# Must be able to multitask while remaining professional, focused, composed and positive. Excellent customer service skills and must display integrity, friendliness and compassion. Must be able to establish an appropriate and effective rapport with others. Must be flexible to take initiative and embrace new opportunities to grow both personally and
