Department Information

Stamps Health Services is an outpatient ambulatory care center that provides health care and health education to students and their spouses/domestic partners. The center is located in a state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot facility within the Joseph Brown Whitehead Building, next to our Campus Recreation Center.

Stamps Health Services provides care in six areas: Primary care, Women's health, Psychiatry, Travel/Immunization/Allergy, Pharmacy, and Diagnostic Services (lab and radiology). Primary Care Clinic is the largest of the clinics at Stamps Health Services and sees approximately 24,000 visits/year.

Job Summary

The Laboratory Supervisor role will oversee lab operations including personnel, scheduling, technical, and workflow functions. Act as the liaison between laboratory, patients, and other staff.

This position will supervise: assigned staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Manages the day-to-day operation of the laboratory to ensure appropriate staffing and testing capabilities are available

Job Duty 2 -

Performs qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using various analyzers and/or manual methods on specimen sources such as blood, urine, and other body fluids using established procedures

Job Duty 3 -

Oversees the checking and transfer of data as necessary and takes steps to correct possibly inaccurate data prior to continued processing or release

Job Duty 4 -

Oversees the monitoring of inventory/ordering by establishing and maintaining par levels and restocking points for general laboratory supplies and reagents

Job Duty 5 -

Performs assigned duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies

Job Duty 6 -

Oversees the orientation/training of staff to their responsibilities and the function of the laboratory

Job Duty 7 -

Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications

Certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists

Required Experience

Two to three years of experience in a moderate to high complexity laboratory setting. Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory capacity.

KNOWLEDGE

o Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques used in laboratory work.

o Testing and instrumentation; familiar with general laboratory policies

SKILLS

o Demonstrates strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.

o Leadership skills to effectively manage and lead. Effectively communicate with staff, clear

documentation and reporting skills for maintaining records and compliance.

Salary: $68,838.00-$79,340.00 commensurate with experience
