Job Description
Position Title: Laboratory Supervisor of Blood Bank
Shift: Monday-Friday Day Shift (With occasional weekends, not regularly)
Location: Northeast Maryland Near PA/DE
As a Blood Bank Supervisor you will be responsible for directing the activities, programs, and personnel in Blood Bank/Transfusion Services within the clinical laboratory. Works in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Director, and Medical Director to ensure quality delivery of laboratory services. Ensures compliance to all quality and regulatory requirements. Achieves and maintains state-of-the-art technical and professional skills and knowledge. Performs all other duties as assigned.
The Blood Bank Supervisor will perform the following essential functions:

Demonstrating behaviors that meet the values and norms of organization

Being accessible to testing personnel to provide on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures.

Coordinating and directing the quality control program in the section according to established procedures, in compliance with all regulatory standards, and in a manner that ensures the delivery of a highly valued service.

Maintaining adequate and appropriate levels of inventory of departmental supplies with no compromise of work.

Maintaining departmental procedure manuals on a current basis.

Maintaining a preventive maintenance program for all equipment within the department and ensuring the availability of documentation for such.

Continually developing and maintaining a comprehensive up-to-date training program for new employees in the section and providing required documentation of such.

Continually developing and maintaining a comprehensive up-to-date competency assessment program for employees in the section and providing required documentation of such.

Performing introductory, periodic, and annual performance evaluations for employees within the section according to HR policy.

Consulting with the Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Director, and Medical Director of the laboratory in keeping them informed of activities, needs, and/or problems. Assisting in the identification of departmental and inter-departmental problems in a timely manner and actively work to resolve such through development of policies that ensure continual departmental improvement.

Assisting in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of candidates for positions within the section as requested.

Coordinating the investigation and evaluation of new procedures/technologies for the section in an effort to provide appropriate test menus while maintaining or increasing productivity, reliability, and quality of services provided.
Laboratory Supervisor (Blood Bank)
Job Requirements
Successful candidates for the Blood Bank Supervisor must be certified in the area of medical laboratory science by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or equivalent (AMT, AAB, etc.).

Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related healthcare science field
1-3 years experience in Blood Bank

Experience with AABB and CAP

This includes coaching and training associates, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage at all times. The Sales Floor Dept Supervisor has responsibility for both customer facing activities (e.g., greeting customer, clarifying needs and identifying solutions, closing sales) and non-facing activities (e.g., downstocking, inventory management, area recovery). The individual in this role ensures his/her area of the store is in-stock and customer ready at all times while inspiring engaging, customer-focused behavior and driving his/her team to achieve sales and margin goals. The Sales Floor Dept Supervisor must keep management informed, delegate and follow-up on daily tasks, and maintain a clean, safe and secure work environment. In addition to supervising associates in his/her own area, the Sales Floor Dept Supervisor must lead associates in other departments, as needed, to meet the demands of the store. This requires broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments. In addition to the responsibilities summarized above, individuals in this role may occasionally open or close the store, or serve as manager-on-duty (MOD). NOTE: The Pro Department Supervisor is responsible for all that is described above while supporting the unique service and merchandising needs of Pro customers. This includes driving execution of Pro sales and service strategy throughout the store, taking lead on the store s top Pro accounts, and coaching/training Pro associates in the store to effectively drive Pro sales and ensure the desired Pro customer experience is delivered. Job Requirements This is an hourly full time role generally scheduled 39 to 40 hours; more hours may be required based on the needs of the store. Requires morning, afternoon, and evening availability any day of the week. Requires physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy merchandise with or without a reasonable accommodation. Also requires physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and/or walking with or without a reasonable accommodation.
