LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented, and goal-driven, individual to join the team as a
Laboratory Shipping Specialist in Gainesville, FL. This position is responsible for providing logistics and communication support to LifeSouth laboratories. This position will help with the acquisition and processing of rare blood products, transportation of lab specimens and packing and labeling blood products.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Facilitate the transport of blood products and lab specimens to hospitals and regions
Take regular inventory of the lab's blood supply
Maintain organization of blood products
Provide excellent customer service to hospitals and handle inquiries carefully and skillfully
Execute regular searches within LifeSouth inventories for rare blood products
Receive blood products into LifeSouth inventory
Label blood and blood components; quarantine/discard components as necessary
Perform troubleshooting of blood products that have error messages at labeling
Process blood component orders
Organize and pack blood products for shipment to hospitals, including counting, weighing, measuring and examining packaging and contents to ensure requirements are met
Obtain and file paperwork
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements
Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Some on-call hours required
Basic computer skills and experience with computer programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Ability to work independently
Ability to handle and complete multiple projects and assignments with precision and accuracy
Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
Ability to anticipate what needs to be done to reach goals and work to achieve those goals
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, grasping and repetitive motion. Occasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, overhead lifting
Previous laboratory, hospital services, components or blood banking experience preferred

With more than 30 donor centers, 50 bloodmobiles and 2,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is dedicated to making sure the blood is there when you or your family is in need.
