Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Researcher III for the Pharmacy Chemical Biology department.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Provides an exciting opportunity to join Dr. Matthew McBride's laboratory as a Laboratory Researcher III.

• Participates in cell biology, biochemistry, epigenetics, and quantitative metabolism research, as well as animal studies to investigate the role of amino acid metabolism in tumor growth and treatment resistance.

• Performs experiments under Dr. McBride's direct supervision as well as maintaining the necessary daily laboratory activities, reagents, and supplies.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry or a related field.

• At least two years of related experience in one of these fields, as well as the ability to work with small animals.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must have a sound understanding of applications of the theoretical discipline and a greater depth of knowledge of the discipline, usually thorough on-the-job training.

• Must be computer literate with knowledge of reporting tools.

• Effective oral and written communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Life Sciences or a related field.

• Previous research experience in metabolism, epigenetics, analytical chemistry or cell metabolism.

• Experience with basic molecular biology and cell culture techniques (cell line propagation, cell line engineering, drug treatment studies), LC-MS metabolomics or stable isotope tracing is an advantage.

• Prior experience working with mouse models is highly desirable.

• Good computer skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, GraphPad Prism, and PowerPoint. Experience processing and analyzing large datasets is preferred.

• Ability to work with little direct oversight.

• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
