We are hiring a Laboratory Research Associate who will be an individual contributor within the Engineering group. The individual will contribute to the development, testing, and troubleshooting of Cytovale's IVD products. This role requires hands-on laboratory expertise and interaction across multiple areas of engineering including optical, thermal, fluidic, and electro-mechanical systems, instrument control software/firmware, data analysis pipelines, consumables, and reagents.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Run instrumentation to collect assay data.

  • Execute calibration procedures and system checks to configure and evaluate instrumentation.

  • Execute test procedures to support the design verification and validation, across hardware and software, of Cytovale's electro-mechanical diagnostic system.

  • Document results and write reports.

  • Write experimental and test protocols.

  • Work with Cytovale's engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve assay or instrumentation issues.

  • Help to maintain an orderly lab.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in biological, life sciences, bioengineering fields. Candidates with a Bachelors in other engineering fields and relevant laboratory experience may be considered.

  • Hands-on laboratory experience.

  • Technical interest to become proficient in assay and instrument troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior internship or work experience in the medical device industry (or other similar healthcare industry, such as IVD, biotech, or pharma).

  • Experience with Python (or equivalent) and data analysis.

  • Knowledge of and practitioner of good laboratory documentation practices.

  • Excellent communicator, detail-oriented, hands-on laboratory skills.

  • Fast-learner with a "can-do" attitude and an ability to work independently.

  • Desire to work in a high velocity startup where collaboration is prized.

Employment Expectations:

  • Onsite role based in South San Francisco, CA

  • Shifted work schedule flexibility (up to 10% of the time)

  • Ability to work in the United States.
