Laboratory Research Assistant (Sign-On Bonus)

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) within the University of Maryland School of Medicine is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Research Assistant. The Laboratory Research Assistant is responsible for performing research activities in a laboratory setting.

This position is now eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Half will be paid following 30 days of satisfactory service at UMB, and half will be paid upon successful completion of probation.Current UMB employees are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine laboratory maintenance and research activities such as: general housekeeping, ELISA assays, preparing solutions, processing animal and clinical specimens, and monitoring of adequate functioning of equipment.

• May perform advanced laboratory research activities such as: cell culture, ELISpot assays, and functional assays. May participate in the design of research studies.

• Compile results and analyze research data using various relevant computer software applications.

• Assist with literature research, editing and preparing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication.

• May assist with ordering supplies and shipping of clinical specimens.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry or in a field of study related to the research of the laboratory.

Hiring Range: $44,000 - $48,000 Commensurate with education and experience
