Your Role at Cabot
Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Relief Technician located in our Development and Manufacturing Center in Pampa, Texas. In this role you will perform the necessary tests outlined in the Cabot Test Method manual on carbon blacks and carbon black feedstock. Your role is critical to ensuring that the Pampa Plant and the Pampa Development and Manufacturing Center's production meets customer requirements. As the laboratory Relief Technician, you will not only be instrumental to special projects but also in assisting the Lab Lead and Lab Supervisor in the daily operations. This position is also recognized as the first point of contact to relieve all other Lab Technicians and therefore must be willing to work periodic shift work.

How You Will Make an Impact
Using your knowledge, skills and abilities, you will ensure our products meet various customer specifications. This role requires a self-motivated person with a positive attitude, strong organization skills, and urgency to make things happen. A successful candidate will be someone who can:
Immediately communicate any out of specification test results to Pampa Facilities Operations to expedite corrective action
Prepare samples to send to customers and/or Billerica Technology Center (BTC) for testing
Communicate test results to support the Battery Group, Reinforcement Material Group, and Specialty Carbons Groups.
Tabulate and enter test results in Laboratory Information Management System
Clean and maintain testing equipment and work areas, perform general maintenance on lab equipment as necessary
Notify laboratory Lead Tech / Supervisor of needed supplies
Help setup, operate, and train Technicians on new equipment and special tests
Identify and actively participates in continuous improvement opportunities
Demonstrate safety minded and good housekeeping habits
Relieve Lead Tech, Supervisor, and Lab Technicians during time off work (vacation, sick, etc.)
Assist in Product Release as necessary.
Collect and turn in timesheets as necessary.
Complete equipment checks according to an assigned schedule.
Actively follow Responsible Care 14001 (RC14001) guidelines.
Help ensure the laboratory maintains the ISO 9001 certification.
What You Will Bring to Cabot
Minimum 2-year associate degree in science or equivalent 2 years college in physical science.
2+ years laboratory experience preferred
Must have valid driver's license
Sufficient knowledge of mathematics to solve problems encountered in laboratory and testing setting
Lab relevant computer skills in Microsoft Office Excel, WebLIMS, and inventory management (JDE).
Must be willing and able to work without immediate supervision.
Must have Legible writing skills.
Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
Must be comfortable with both individual work and team-oriented work
Ability to lift items and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity to operate and perform basic service to laboratory equipment.
Ability to focus for long periods of time
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Demonstrate Critical Thinking skills
Ability to complete all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
