Job Summary

The Laboratory Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the oversight of the clinical laboratory QA program, proficiency testing, continuing education, occurrence reporting and inspection/accreditation.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency Testing (College of American Pathologists and State of New York) Place yearly order to the State and CAP. Distribute surveys to the departments.

    Review surveys and submit for signature post grading by Director. Obtain exceptions reports for review and signature by Medical Director. File all surveys in the appropriate binders.

  • Continuing Education Subscribe to teleconference or on-line conference as available. Coordinate OSHA In-service. Subscribe and Distribute "Check Sample" and "Tech Sample" to all departments.

  • Inspection and Accreditation

  • Review and update policy and procedure manuals as needed. Review and sign policy and procedure manuals yearly.

    Coordinate the CAP Self-Inspection with Departments. Assist Administrative Manager with the inspection applications. Obtain copy of Reference Laboratory licenses annually or upon expiration.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement
  • Follow-up on all Occurrence reports for the Department of Clinical Laboratories. Update Quarterly and Yearly summary of Occurrence Reports.

    Discuss all performance indicators with Medical Director and Department Director yearly. Retain monthly performance improvement indicators for all departments. Complete year end summary of performance indicators.

    Subscribe to the Q-Track and Q-Probe packages as appropriate. Distribute Q-Track and Q-Probe following up on submission and review. Obtain copy of Reference Laboratory licenses annually or upon expiration.
  • Performs other duties a required.

Education Requirements:

BS in Medical Technology or related field required

Experience Requirements:

3-5 years laboratory experience required
3 years of supervisory and/or management experience preferred


Licensing and Certification

Requirements:

NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office

Nurse Manager - 2328870 Roles & Responsibilities: The Nursing Clinical Manager (alternate title: Clinical Program Director) is an MD or Nurse Practitioner with broad knowledge and diverse skills who has clinical, administrative and educational responsibility for one or more clinical programs for a designated patient population in addition to patient care, clinical care coordination, clinical teaching, administrative and research responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Oversees and directs day-to-day operations, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, ensures effective management and delivery of quality nursing care on assigned unites for all shifts. Ensures adherence to established standards of care. 2. Assists in interviewing and recommending hiring of supervisors and nursing specialists. Assists supervisors on resolving employee conflicts, disciplinary and labor relations matters, and staffing problems. Promotes development of professional and technical skills and abilities among subordinates. 3. Assists in developing and securing approval of administering capital and operating budgets for assigned units. Monitors expenditures and resolves discrepancies and variances. 4. Participates in developing policies and procedures for assigned unites and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures for assigned units. Participates in developing plans necessary to achieve agreed-upon goals and assists supervisors in developing and meeting goals and objectives. 5. Serves as professional resource to assigned staff in resolving nursing care or management problems and concerns. Directs and coordinates inter and intra-departmental activities necessary to resolve impediments to delivery of care on assigned units. Utilizes knowledge and skills of appropriate clinical specialist in resolving difficult patient care problems. 6. Supports, interprets and enforces Hospital and department policies and procedure among subordinates, physicians, visitors and patients. Maintains and enhances Hospital's public and employee relations efforts through contacts with patients, visitors and staff, and through investigation and resolution of complaints or concerns. 8.
