Job Overview

The Laboratory Manager/Research Technician supports an NIH-funded molecular cancer epidemiology laboratory at Georgetown's Lombardi Comprehensive Care Center. They have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all laboratory activities, including ordering and maintaining laboratory equipment; human specimen processing (tumor, blood and other tumors and bio samples

  • Coordinate with core facilities at Georgetown and other universities (histopathology, genomics/epigenomics, tumor registries)

  • Administer regulatory and project-based reporting

  • Perform basic statistics and data analysis

  • Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

  • Reporting directly to the study Principal Investigator, the Laboratory Manager/Research Technician also communicates and works with other investigators, a project manager, and research assistants; and contributes to weekly and monthly research meetings.

  • As a member of a research and clinical team that addresses health disparities in cancer risk and survival, they contribute to the Georgetown University mission of social justice and health equity.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in public health, genetics or a related field

  • Knowledge of SAS statistical software

  • Work experience on cancer-focused studies

  • Demonstrable track record of practical experience in molecular biology techniques and approaches, laboratory management, and aggregating and merging data

  • Exceptional organization and communication skills

  • Familiarity with REDCap or other database software and statistical software (R, SAS, Stata, SPSS)
