The USC Keck School of Medicine - Alzheimer Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI), located in San Diego, California is an academic institute comprised of an expert panel of scientific collaborators committed to advancing the development of new treatments for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) through innovative clinical trials.

Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the incumbent will serve as a critical member of the Biomarker Unit by contributing to the development of plans for the research designs and methods that include making important original contributions pertaining to intervention development and implementation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute original ideas of major methodological significance on research direction and data interpretation.

  • Provides leadership and direction to lab staff and other personnel associated with the projects.

  • Works independently on the development, execution and overall management of projects focusing on clinical trials in Alzheimer's Disease (AD), banked tissue and fluid samples from human AD clinical trial subjects and the design and methodology of clinical trials.

  • Position designs, develops, and analyses a variety of non-standard experimental procedures involving cellular, biochemical, anatomical and molecular biology approaches to AD research.

  • Reads relevant literature, writes manuscripts for publications, abstracts scientific articles and directs the collection of clinical data, analyzing these data and contributes in preparation for publication or presentation of data.

  • Ensures the lab safety with security related procedures and promotes and maintains standards for security conscious awareness and behavior.

  • Responsible for screening applications, interviewing candidates and makes selection decisions and/or recommends individuals for hire.

Location: San Diego, CA

Salary is dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree

Minimum Experience: 7 years

Minimum Field of Expertise: Specialized, progressively responsible experience in laboratory instrumentation

Kleinfelder is looking for a laboratory testing professional with strong initiative, great communication skills, and proven client service skills to supervise a motivated and growing team of laboratory testing professionals. Position responsibilities may include: * Promote, sustain, and demonstrate Kleinfelder's values and safety commitment. * Prudently manages resources and staff to ensure efficiency and quality. * Provides support on marketing and proposal efforts as required. * Supervise operational personnel (laboratory staff), including resource coordination, internal quality control, and management of deliverables. * Communicate with clients, staff, and supervisors to successfully and profitably deliver laboratory services on a consistent basis. * Provide technical leadership and guidance for staff. * Represent Kleinfelder to local professional organizations. * Responsible for making sure project deadlines are met by providing proper scheduling, coordination, and organization of items to be tested and available resources. * Responsible to perform routine to complex lab testing including soils, aggregates, concrete, and grout materials. * Responsible for performing the testing, documentation, computations, and quality review in accordance with Kleinfelder's Quality System Manual and applicable testing standards (e.g. ASTM, AASHTO, etc.). * Ensures that laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with internal procedures. * Maintenance of Kleinfelder's local lab accreditations. * Experienced in establishing and maintaining relationships through excellent communication, professionalism, and client service focus to both internal and external clients. Consideration for this position requires the following certifications or experience: * 5+ years of experience with laboratory testing of construction materials. * Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass drug test. * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Ability to work independently and as a team member, maintaining composure, and working effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities. * Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. * Able to use a company provided laptop or tablet computer and a working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). * Organization and multi-tasking ability. * A good work ethic, attention to detail, and high level of personal integrity. * Authorization to work in the United States.
