The Veterinary Technology Laboratory Instructor/Coordinator is responsible for student instruction, laboratory scheduling and inventory management, maintenance of veterinary technology equipment and medical records, and participating in student recruitment efforts.

This is a full-time, 10-month position with employee health and basic life insurance paid by the college. Qualifications

  • An associate degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program, and current credentialing as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Missouri

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field

  • Bachelor's or master's degree and teaching experience preferred

Job Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities:

The Veterinary Technology Laboratory Instructor shall:

  • Instruct laboratories and/or courses within the Veterinary Technology curriculum. This may include small animal, large animal, or exotic species courses and laboratories;

  • Instruct or supervise Veterinary Technology students in clinical procedures as needed;

  • Develop laboratory schedules for students and patients of the Veterinary Technology program;

  • Carry out the policies developed by the Board of Trustees as executed and interpreted by the administration;

  • Participate in the implementation of assessment plan as appropriate;

  • Attend faculty or department meetings if requested by the Director of Veterinary Technology or the Dean of WDTE;

  • Prepare and submit at dates and times designated all records and reports as required by the administration;

  • Keep accurate and sufficient records of student grades and attendance. Submit the Census Rosters, grades, and attendance records to the Registrar by the requested due date;

  • Maintain the inventory for all veterinary technology laboratory spaces;

  • Assist with maintenance of medical records for all patients of the Veterinary Technology program;

  • Participate on committee assignments and professional growth activities as approved by their dean;

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Veterinary Technology, the Dean of WDTE, or the President.

Instructor Working Environment and Conditions:

Indoors or outdoors in a normal classroom and/or in a laboratory, clinical, or farm setting. Work involves working with classroom, laboratory, and clinical equipment as well as live animals of different species. The instructor is frequently required to stand and walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
