The Laboratory Education Coordinator shall be responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating education and competency standards for students of the School of Medical Laboratory Science at Baptist Health System Laboratories. This position shall also assist the Program Director and other system leaders in pursuit of and in support of all training and competency efforts related to retaining a highly qualified and competent Laboratory workforce as related to all Laboratory positions including Histotechnologist, Histotechnician, Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technician, and others as required. This position may have additional duties assigned as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, clinical lab science, chemical, physical, or biological science required.

  • Other bachelor's degree will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school of medical laboratory science or if science and math coursework met requirements of certifying agency.

  • Minimum 3 years' related experience in a laboratory setting. Must have knowledge of education methodology, administration, and accreditation/certification procedures.

  • MLS (ASCP or equivalent) and/or PBT (ASCP or equivalent) required.

  • Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations.

  • Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated.

  • Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds throughout the organization.

  • Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to show compassion and sensitivity for patient comfort.
