We are currently looking for a Laboratory Director to join our team. HRMC offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including a sign on/relocation package.

  • The Laboratory Director is responsible for the direction and effective operation of the Laboratory Department which includes planning, controlling and monitoring operational performance of the Laboratory.

  • Ensures compliance with departmental and administrative policies and procedures, compliance with JCAHO, state and federal regulatory agencies and with the College of American Pathologists standards.

  • Performance of surveys developing/monitoring quality control programs and developing/monitoring continuous quality improvement.

  • Ensuring quality and a timeliness of patient test results by investigating problems involving specimen collection, result reporting and turnaround time.

  • Designing, researching, reviewing, and writing format for laboratory and procedure manuals.

  • Implementing changes in response to technology and laboratory procedures with regard to cost effectiveness, enforcing and assisting in developing safety, infection control, and waste management procedures to promote a safe environment.

  • Developing and monitoring the staffing and operational budgets.

  • Conducting cost analysis and feasibility studies and determining financial impact to ensure effective cost containment.

  • Exploring innovative approaches to increase revenue; analyzing laboratory computer application to manage data.

  • Preparing job descriptions and evaluations.

  • Selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, disciplining and evaluating competency of subordinate staff.

  • Training Laboratory personnel in new technology and laboratory procedures.

  • Working with pathologist to establish critical level values and develop acceptable criteria.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related science discipline required. 6 years technical bench level, at least 3 years Laboratory Leadership experience required in Hospital Setting.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

This is a Leadership position, which assures the delivery of patient care with the skills of an experienced Registered Nurse. Position responsibilities include ensuring continuity of patient care, serving as a resource for subordinate staff, facilitating problem solving, assisting with Quality Improvement Activities, staff education and assuring compliance with established policies and procedures. Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols. Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Valid Arizona or Compact States RN license; CPR ACLS required within 60 days of hire.
