Full-time Laboratory Director needed right outside of Los Angeles!

Summary of

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include directing and coordinating the operations of the Laboratory Department. The areas include performance and testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, microbiology, blood processing, pathology, and histology as well as a significant lab outreach program.
Must demonstrate a strong degree of independent judgment and decision-making skills as well as creativity and resourcefulness.
Must be able to complete projects in a timely manner and demonstrate the ability to select, train, motivate and develop subordinates. Must exhibit the ability to keep current with skills in laboratory technology and management. Must assess and evaluate care/services provided, staffing levels, competency and educational needs of all employees.
Must be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication and development and implementation of organizational and departmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Must maintain an environment for performance improvement and must be responsible to adapt to organizational change and community needs.

Job Requirements:
Education/Certificates/Licenses: BA or BS in biology or other acceptable health-related subjects. One year internship training program in a California-approved Clinical Laboratory Scientist (formally Medical Terminology) school or program.
Management education and/or management experience required. Ideally minimum 3 years as a Director in similar size facility (250 beds).

VIEW JOBS 11/15/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-13T00:00 Position/Program Information DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT TRPH4899-1 VACANCY INFORMATION DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH PUBLIC HEALTH LABORATORY Department of Public Health, Public Health Laboratories (PHL) is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and productive individual who currently holds the payroll title of Medical Technologist, Laboratory Information Systems to Provide the Public Health Laboratories and Laboratory Data/Information Systems unit support and coordination of data management for public health technical staff, public health programs, and clients. This position supports, maintains, develops, and operates Sunquest Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) currently in use within the PHL. Essential Job Functions * Design, build/modify, and implement analytical testing batteries in Sunquest Laboratory Information System resulting in text and appropriate coding used for reporting as well as billing to clients for reimbursement; ensure laboratory data systems meet regulatory requirements by updating standard operating procedures and completing authorized change requests; Develop, monitor, and maintain electronic laboratory reporting interfaces for instruments and clients; Perform scheduled maintenance of laboratory information systems "live" and "test" areas to assign and ensure correct test reporting * Design, build, and implement analytical test worksheets and ad hoc monitoring reports (ex. turn-around-time, workload, pending logs for quality control and quality assurance purposes) for laboratory testing units, update and maintain configuration of laboratory information system related items (specimen labels, website, and forms to meet laboratory regulatory standards and changing test menu), track and resolve laboratory information systems error logs, and maintain database of clients and associated test orders for financial billing purposes/invoice preparation. * Maintain laboratory information system hardware and software applications, perform data management of test batteries in Sunquest, implement instrument/vendor specific interfaces used for diagnostic test platforms, and implement customer interfaces used for online test ordering/results reporting. * Provide internal and external new user training for Sunquest laboratory information systems, monitor laboratory information systems help desk for troubleshooting, and maintain/update administrative files used for laboratory information data management and diagnostic testing (master test file, user access lists, location/account codes, confidential fax secure data agreements). Requirements Must currently be a permanent Los Angeles County employee who holds the payroll item of Medical Technologist, Laboratory Information Systems.
