Position Summary:

DLS is looking for a talented and passionate Laboratory Associate-IHC to join our dynamic CARs/TissueBioMarkers team. The Laboratory Associate IHC contributes to our mission by assisting Scientific Project Managers with sponsor contracted studies. With our expertise in IHC services focused on oncology, inflammatory diseases, as well as other disease states, we are developing novel cancer tests to improve cancer patient outcomes. A Day in the Life of a Laboratory Associate- IHC at Discovery Life Sciences:

  • Supporting the Scientific Project Managers.

  • Coordinating with various departments for slides.

  • Following appropriate lab compliance.

  • Aiding in staining tissue samples.

Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of laboratory experience

  • BS or AS in scientific discipline required

  • Familiarity with general laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, pipettes, etc. is required

  • Immunohistochemistry, RNA Scope, histology or accessioning experience is preferred

  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments

  • Keen attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures

  • Working knowledge of universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and handling human specimens

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and or weekends

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with various departments for test and control slides

  • Aid in staining tissue samples using immunohistochemistry (IHC) techniques, score samples, generate reports detailing scoring data and experimental results for study sponsors (customers).

  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel assigned to assist in the execution of project responsibilities .

  • Ensure appropriate lab compliance with institutional and accrediting agency regulations.

  • Determine and provide appropriate supplies for laboratory personnel

  • Follow company policies and procedures, including quality, safety and/or universal precautions.

  • Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts.

  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations.

  • Support the Scientific Project Managers throughout the duration of projects, including preparation of human tissue for microscopic evaluation using routine histology procedures including: embedding, microtomy, and hematoxylin and eosin staining and subsequent coverslipping of slides; gross dissection of tissues may be required.

Location and work hours:

  • Required 5 days a week onsite in Newtown, PA
  • Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
