Laboratory Assistant - Entry Level

Leading diagnostics company is looking for a lab assistant to join their specimen processing team in Agoura Hills! No experience required - just interest in the scientific field!

• HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED
• Ability to work either 1st 2nd or 3rd shift! (the lab is open 24 hours)

Description:

The main function of the lab assistant is to perform tasks associated with specimen management including receiving samples, loading and unloading automation, and storage.

Responsibilities:

• Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting instruments including capping and uncapping samples, labeling aliquot tubes, pulling errors, and sorting aliquots.

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.

• Sorts specimens into appropriate station for manual pipetting.

• Returns specimens to appropriate locations.

• Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks.

• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.

• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.

• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.

• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues.

• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.

• Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (Need a copy of diploma, official transcripts or GED).
