Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications.

Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Labor Services Representative or Trainee 1/2; if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Labor Services Representative eligible list for this location, if one exists.
70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade 14 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.

Duties Description Standard Duties:
As a Labor Services Representative, you would assist customers and provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations. You would interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences.
You would identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers. Intensive job placement assistance is key through developing skills-based resume, successful employment interview coaching, providing continuing job leads, conducting employment referrals and advocating for the job seeker when applying for a job. You would provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor.
