  • This job posting is for a dual position with WV OSHA Consultation Program (85% time), and Consumer State OSHA Program (15% time) with the West Virginia Division of Labor, Safety Section.

  • Headquartered at your home office, you will

  • OSHA Consultation Program:

  • Have a specific area of assignment to travel the state to perform OSHA Safety Consultation and Training Visits with private employers.

  • A qualified applicant will perform WV OSHA Safety Consultation Visits, and Training and Education Visits (private employers) in accordance with Federal OSHA regulations for private employers.

  • State OSHA Consumer Program:

  • Statewide assignment to the Consumer State OSHA Program.

  • Primarily handle and respond to State OSHA complaints (public employees), investigate fatalities(when necessary), and/or on-site compliance inspections (when necessary) in accordance with Federal OSHA regulations and WV State OSHA Statute and Regulations.

  • Lead quarterly meetings with the WV Division of Labor's Safety Committee, and provide findings to the Labor Programs Manager

  • State Vehicle and Equipment provided.

  • All travel expenses paid.

  • Perform Training and Education Visits through OSHA Consultation, and documented training through Consumers State OSHA Program (when requested).

  • Hands-On and Job-Shadowing training provided with seasoned consultants in both safety and health disciplines.

  • Specialty job training provided at OSHA Training Institute (OTI) alongside other OSHA Consultants and Federal Compliance Officers, which is located in Chicago, IL.

  • Accurate and detailed reporting, including matching of OSHA regulations/standards, recommended abatements, report generating, editing, and electronic case file documentation in OSHA Information System (OIS) is required for OSHA consultation and State OSHA.

  • Candidates must complete all required introductory OTI courses, and also perform four (4) visits in both general industry and Construction Industry prior to being released on their own for consultations.

  • Candidates must be very detail oriented, communicative, work well with a team, willing to continually learn, and open to constructive criticism.

  • Candidates must be able to manage scheduling their own schedules (visits, training, etc.) with limited supervision.

  • Accurate data entry into agency databases and report systems is required.

  • Candidates must have a valid Driver's License.

  • Candidates must be able to lift 25lbs. without difficulty.

  • Must have good computer skills.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Training:  Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.

Experience:  Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience.

Substitution: An Associate degree from an regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.

Special Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license.
