Nurse Manager - Labor & Delivery (RN) - Houston, TX

SHIFT: Full time No WeekendsKey Requirement Summary:
RN, Nurse Management/Supervisory, Labor & Delivery, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal MonitoringSalary based on years of experience. Sign on bonus available on a case by case basis. Relocation is based on distance and will range from $1K-5K.

Job Responsibilities:

Develops and administers services as necessary to include nursing care.
Promotes a multidisciplinary coordination of services, such as nursing, medical, respiratory care, laboratory pharmaceutical and public relations.
Participates in budgetary formulation and control for areas of responsibility in collaboration with the Nurse Director.
Administer and appraise Process Improvement within the services provided.
Control processes related to Human Resources; inclusive of hiring, evaluating, terminating, counseling, coaching, and development of staff.
Directs and approve the practice of professional nursing and support positions with the services provided to maintain quality patient care through implementation and evaluation of clinical practice standards.
Develop, interpret, inspect and review policies and procedures within the services provided.
Develop, institute, review and implement Disaster Preparedness policies and procedures for the organization.
Responsible for twenty-four hour coverage and problem resolution to the services provided.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

BSN required
MSN, RNC preferred
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
BCLS certified
Medication Learning Module
NRP certification within six (6) months of hire.
AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification within six (6) months of hire.
Minimum of three (3) years of Labor and Delivery clinical practice with emphasis on leadership and management experience preferred

Responsibilities * Perform and document assessments of the patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs * Collect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care * Analyze situations, anticipate potential problems, and detect changes in patient status * Identify each patient's needs pertaining to patient teaching, discharge planning, growth and development, nutritional screening, functional status, and pain management * Develop an individualized plan of care based upon the nursing assessment and re-prioritize and change as necessary * Determine which standards of care and practice apply to the patient and coordinate among other health team members as appropriate * Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences * Execute therapeutic physician or nurse interventions according to established standards * Evaluate and document the patient's response to the care provided and recognize their progress towards the desired outcome * Identify actual/potential barriers to learning and utilize various teaching strategies to overcome them as appropriate * Maintain confidentiality concerning patient/family issues * Act as a resource in educating new employees/team members * Participate in achieving hospital/unit goals, structures, and priorities Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in nursing or other degree in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement * Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification are required * 1 year of professional nursing experience * The ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills, good time and resource management skills, flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills, knowledge of unit-specific equipment, and knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, and interdisciplinary collaboration * Experience in LDRP settings, knowledge in all areas * Experience in the mother and baby unit providing couplet care * Experience in triage * Experience in labor & delivery, including circulating in the operating room * Experience with high risk women's services including gynecological and obstetric patients on the women's specialty (antepartum/gynecology) Company Profile Texas Children's Pavilion for Women is a comprehensive obstetrics/gynecology facility and one of a select few hospitals nationwide that provides women, mothers and babies with a full continuum of high-quality, expert health care.
