PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for performing all levels of calibrations, tests, test setups, data collection and/or data analysis using recognized methodologies based upon a combination of experience and written instructions. This role is also responsible for acting as a resource for Lab Tech I and Lab Tech II questions and development.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develops and maintains proficiency complex tests, analysis or calibration methodologies as assigned. Develops sound conclusions and writes reports of project results.
Maintains accurate records of calibrations, testing and analytical work performed including required traceability on equipment utilized. Computes, analyzes and records test data
Interacts with vendors on technical problems relating to assigned work
Make recommendations or improvements on procurement of components, systems, spare parts, portable test equipment requirements, work scheduling, training, etc.
Performs corrective or routine maintenance duties to, test, repair and calibrate instruments including cleaning and replacing components of circuits.
Technician work activities will encompass one or more of the following activities: calibration of scientific instrumentation or measurement and test equipment, including the development of calibration protocols; conduct electrical, mechanical or metallurgical testing protocols, including the development of such protocols.
Additional Assessment Criteria include, at least 3 years or equivalent satisfactory performance in Lab Tech II role in addition to the following:
Understand the (P)NCR process and demonstrate proficiency through the initiation, and resolution and documentation of an issue.
Create a new format (i.e. new device)
Create or completely rewrite a quality document (OJT, Skill, Knowledge, etc.)
Train others in a discipline
Perform the SQA process (or has acceptably demonstrated full understanding of the process and basis)
ANSI Level III status (Performed QC review, etc.) OR ALL the following: 1 year without an error, 3 years (nonconsecutive) achieving the QC goal, and L4 for 2 years (nonconsecutive) as a T2.
Achieved a production level of 1000 calibrations/year for 3 years. (Non-Consecutive is acceptable)
Demonstrated successful leadership, drive for continuous improvement, versatile team member, and strong communication skills
Strong safety performance and engagement in the safety program over the previous year.
ANSI Level III certification in Testing and Analysis
Previous experience or demonstrated ability to manage projects and resources for Testing and Analysis
Ability to work with customers to develop project test plans, quotes, and proposals for Testing and Analysis
Ability and qualifications to establish and approve test and acceptance criteria
Proficient in developing and executing effective troubleshooting plans and failure analysis
Proficient in managing project schedule and budget
Demonstrated ability to lead diverse project teams (customer and peers) to produce valued results
A proven and valued technical expert in several areas.
Must be able to review and approve quality test reports
Ability to author Knowledge, Skill, and OJT's for technical activities and quality processes.
Associates degree, or 60 credits toward a BS degree in a technical field, or PMEL training (no experience required), or a high school degree a minimum of six years of relevant experience
ANSI N45.2.6 Level 2 certification (Testing and Analysis)
Demonstrated aptitude in: chemical, electrical, mechanical or metallurgical testing, analysis or calibrations or basic engineering principles
Ability to gain unescorted access to Exelon Nuclear Stations
Meet additional assessment criteria
Good oral and written communication skills
Nuclear plant experience including Radiation protection experience
Metrology or related education via VoTech, military or associate degree in technical area
Experience in the calibration, maintenance and repair of portable Radiation Protection equipment
