Job Description
The Lab Technician will assist the Lab Manager in determining diseases in all Wonderful Nurseries plants. This involves diagnostic testing in the Wonderful Laboratories, Plant Pathology Division. This position set and maintain quality assurance compliance objectives to achieve production targets.
Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on work load, season, etc.
Assure that the methods and procedures utilized are current, efficient, strictly followed and that safety standards are maintained.
Assists the Manager in the plant diagnostics program.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Requires direct involvement in daily testing activities of diagnostic samples.
Track and report quality metrics during production season
Participate in internal/external audits pertaining to quality control systems and regulatory compliance.
Develop procedures, schedule testing and oversee validation activities.
Able to work in teamwork with low level supervision after appropriate training is provided.
Other duties as deemed appropriate by Management and Company.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School education or GED equivalent. Advanced degree preferred
Preferred experience in biological, chemical, agricultural or mathematical field, or related discipline and in a food, beverage, agricultural, or related industry in a quality control environment, or an equivalent combination education and experience
SPECIFIC KNOWELDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
ELISA techniques preferred but not required.
Laboratory experience and knowledge in disease diagnostics techniques including viral, fungal or bacterial pathogens with molecular identifications tools.
Possess a basic understanding of microbiological organisms and their impact on plant health.
Knowledge on writing reports, and root cause analysis and corrective actions for investigations.
Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
Bilingual English/ Spanish strongly preferred
Pay Range: $18.00-$23.00, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
