Position Overview:

The Lab Technician maintains a safe and productive production lab, sets up machines for production and manages the work flow throughout the lab. This positions hours are: Monday

  • Friday, 10am

  • 7pm

Specific Duties Include:

  • Work with Production Manager, Process Engineering, Lead Scheduler to manage machine build schedule

  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and assist with the restocking of supplies

  • Assist in the removal and disposal of contaminated materials according to Proto Lab procedures

  • Identify improvements in process flow and recommend solutions

  • Observe all Proto Lab Safety and Quality Procedures

  • Use established procedures and work instructions to set up production equipment for operation

  • Operate raw material handling processes as needed to ensure raw materials inventories are at the correct level after each run of production equipment

  • Perform machine turnarounds and material swaps

  • Load machines with appropriate production material according to written procedures ahead of scheduled production runs

  • Start production builds according to schedule

  • Unload completed builds and stage for post build processing

  • Communicate all machine and build issues with appropriate management and/or maintenance personnel

  • Act as first responder to machine problems with builds and equipment issues

  • Monitor and log the traceability and storage of production materials and consumables in the machine lab

  • Strictly follow procedural guidelines to blend various materials to ensure consistent product quality

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Cross training will be completed dependent on business needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated computer aptitude for working with complex database applications

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of additive manufacturing machines pertinent to the position

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude

  • Operational experience in a professional manufacturing environment

  • Proven ability to learn new techniques

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is expected to sit and stand for the entire shift, lift up to 50 pounds waist high, carry up to 50 pounds alone. Essential job duties require reaching, bending, and grasping. Able to read machine-shop gages and indicators.

VIEW JOBS 12/13/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-13T00:00 Position Overview: The Stereolithography Technician is responsible for the preparation of Stereolithography builds and the operation of Protolabs Prototyping's RP equipment with the objective of producing high quality prototypes and maintaining on time deliveries for customer orders. This opening will be for the weekend shift. Specific Duties Include: * Operate and maintain the hardware and software of the RP equipment to create high-quality prototypes in a safe and efficient manner. * Effectively use all work instructions and checklists associated with the preparation of builds and operation of RP equipment. * Communicate with Build Prep Primary, Process Engineering and Quoting regarding the building and completing of customer orders while maintaining scheduled ship dates. * Communicate with other departments and supervisors regarding part quality, process updates and production schedules. * Assist in the scheduling of customer orders with the objective of increasing throughput. * Work on additional responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to safety procedures, resolving process issues, vat swaps, rotational maintenance and developmental processes. * Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment * Observe all Protolabs Safety and Quality Procedures * Perform additional tasks as assigned Minimum Qualifications: * Experience with a Windows computing environment as well as the ability to learn custom software packages. * The ability to visualize 3-Dimensional parts based on CAD data * The ability to visualize * Effective communication skills * Must demonstrate the ability to learn new techniques Education Requirements: * High School Diploma or equivalent All Proto Labs facilities in the United States are ITAR-compliant operations.
