Lab Technician, Metrology (Colmar, PA, US)

Dorman Products, a nearly $2B global supplier of aftermarket motor vehicle parts with 3,500+ Contributors and 28 sites across the globe, is seeking a Lab Technician to join our growing Engineering Services team in support of our metrology lab functions. In this role, you will perform data collection, dimensional inspections and calibrations utilizing equipment such as laser scanners, CMMs (FARO), optical measurement systems and hand measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers). In addition, you will create and submit detailed inspection reports and data files for use in product development or quality inspection. This role is onsite, Monday

• Friday, 8:00am

• 4:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Utilize lab best practices to prepare sample parts for evaluation.

• Identify and use the appropriate equipment to obtain required measurements

• Document results in standard report formats and record observations made during testing

• Effectively communicate results to Engineers, Metrologist and Lab Manager

• Maintain and calibrate a variety of dimensional inspection equipment

• Follow established procedures to perform other product testing including, but not limited to, hardness, tensile and salt fog

• Maintain a lean environment using 5S practices

Qualifications

• Technical school diploma or Associates degree in mechanical technology preferred

• 1-2 years' experience as a mechanical or test technician in a manufacturing or laboratory environment preferred

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

• Familiarity with GD&T and interpreting technical drawings preferred

• Familiarity with vehicle systems is a plus

• Documented diagnostic and problem solving skills

• Documented organizational and time-management skills

Physical Requirements

Capability to lift 50 pounds. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one location to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
