Laboratory Technician to assist with the operation of the Electrical Technology program with emphasis on maintenance of lab areas and equipment, ordering of program supplies and preparation of class materials.

1.Main duty Maintenance of lab areas and equipment

Performance is acceptable when:

a. Lab areas are kept clean of dust and free of debris.

b. Lab equipment is maintained and brought to repair if needed.

c. Lab tools are maintained, cleaned and organized.

d. Lab areas eye wash stations are examined and tagged in compliance with local standards.
2.Main duty Ordering of program supplies

Performance is acceptable when:

a. Program supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.

b. Supplies ordered are accurate to what has been requested/needed.

c. Requisition of purchases are made in a timely manner.
3.Main duty Preparation of class materials

Performance is acceptable when:

a. Lab equipment is available and fully functional upon usage in class.

b. Sufficient replacement consumable items are available in lab storage.

c. Equipment not in use is stored appropriately.

The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities.

Required Skills

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • Knowledge of electrical and construction safety

  • Current valid driver's license

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds over the head

  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding

  • Ability to operate lifting equipment such as scissor lifts, chain hoists and pallet jacks

  • Ability to perform basic related service and maintenance operations

  • Ability to work with a variety of industrial tools and installations

  • Ability to quickly recognize safety hazards that may arise in an industrial setting

  • Ability to work independently or as a team to produce quality results

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Ability to perform duties in a timely manner as requested

Under the general supervision of the Cardiology Manager, the Cath Lab Technician in cooperation with the physicians and nursing personnel, assists with diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiology patient procedures in the catheterization labs. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of radiographic imaging, patient physiologic monitoring, and cardiac arrhythmia recognition. Complies with principles of sterile technique.
