Experience Required

  • Background in electrical, electronic and illumination engineering.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to work with customers to fully understand the scope of the requested information.

  • Ability to verify complicated test data to ensure the result obtained through testing conforms to UL, IES and Acuity Lighting standards.

  • Ability to construct needed test apparatus to perform the requested testing, e.g. building an enclosure for Thermal Testing of any unusual luminaries geometry, or constructing mounting apparatus for luminaries being tested for photometric data collection.

  • Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to understand and use numerous technical instruments required to perform the requested testing.

  • Ability to use SharePoint software, Excel, Word and other Windows applications.

  • Ability to understand and use numerous technical instruments required to perform the requested testing.

  • Ability to understand and complete required testing in accordance with standard work procedures.

  • Strong typing skills required.

Physical Requirements Medium work -- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 20 pounds of forces frequently, and /or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Job Summary

Responsible for test and measurement operations on Acuity Brands lighting products, component parts and related materials. Responsible for maintaining activity records, generating finished reports for the customer, forwarding reports to the customer, once the supervisor has reviewed them.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities Thermal, electrical, mechanical, environmental, and photometric Testing of ABL products required for third party safety Certificationand to insure products meet internal and external specification. Testing is based on adaptation of generic Certification body test method to the specific Acuity product and includes set-up, testing, reporting and interpretation of results to product groups. This includes testing of digital, analog, and mixed signal electronic circuits for lighting and lighting controls. Maintain lab space to meet 5S goals. Adapt and modify to improve testing performance as need arises. KPI metrics. - Shared accountability within department to fulfill ABS/Lean initiatives. Using Lean tools and KPI measures to maintain a consistent flow through the lab, and identify areas/activities in need of improvement.
