Currently looking for a lab technician to join their experienced weight calibration laboratory team. The lab technician will be responsible for performing precision measurements and calibrations on test weights used by a diverse range of clients, including private, academic, and government entities. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to integrity are essential qualities for success in this role.
The lab technician will be required to follow detailed procedures to ensure all calibration services conform to ISO 17025 standards and customer expectations. The ideal candidate should be comfortable converting measurements, like grams to milligrams, and should have a basic understanding of algebra. The lab technician must thrive in our fast-paced calibration laboratory, known for its industry-leading turnaround time, all while maintaining a constant focus on quality and attention to detail.
This role involves lifting weights of up to 50 lbs. and may require repetitive lifting of 50 lbs at times. Responsibilities • Calibrate, perform preventative maintenance, adjust, and certify test weights at The Scale People's Columbia, MD calibration lab. • Accurately document and store data for service reports to ensure data integrity and security • Provide outstanding customer service • Create and maintain an organized schedule to complete work orders on time • Close and complete work orders on time • Manage pickups, drop-offs, and shipping/receiving of customer test weights • Collect and document data for internal analysis • Assist with weight standard certifications as necessary

Skills: • Good analytical, number recognition, and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, algebra) • Knowledge of Metric Conversions • Strong attention to detail and organization • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite as well as the ability to learn new software • Ability to be productive working both independently and as part of a team • Experience with rigging and moving loads safely in vehicles. • An aptitude for working with your hands using hand and power tools Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) • Preferred, but not required, one (1) or more years of experience in a quality control or laboratory environment • Preferred, but not required, one (1) or more years of experience in a metrology role Certificates, licenses, training, or other job-related requirements · No current restrictions prohibiting regular lifting of 50 lbs. · A valid driver's license.
