Responsible for the daily operation of the assigned Clinical Laboratory Section. This includes staffing, training, scheduling, supply management and the supervision of testing performed.
Responsible for maintaining policy and procedures and quality control practices in the laboratory.
Must also recognize results or problems that require referral to the Pathologist or Laboratory Director.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Medical Technologist, ASCP, AMT or NCA
Education: B.S. in Medical Technology or Applied Sciences, 5 years experience and an alternate method of obtaining MT may be substituted for degree.
Experience: 5 or more years experience is preferred.
High degree of initiative required to sequence work in the order of importance or urgency.
Must be able to exercise independent judgment in assigning work to techs and in trouble-shooting procedures. Must have the ability to exercise good judgment in delineation of responsibilities to Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians and Phlebotomist.
