Laboratory Technician

Conduct and help set up testing to evaluate materials and products by following documented methods and procedures in a laboratory environment. Under general direction work independently or as a team assisting with research projects; perform routine and non-routine lab tests, and conduct various clerical or editorial duties.

Job Responsibility

• Take work direction from lab coordinators being flexible to changing research needs

• Perform established procedures and protocols while maintaining complete communications with lab coordinators

• Assist in the set up and operation of various scientific tools and equipment; give input and troubleshoot

• Possess good record and documentation management paying close attention to detail

• Conduct studies and record data into templates in Excel or Windows based programs

• Download data collected from instruments; help interpret data with basic understanding of results

• Recognize and communicate changes or oddity of product testing

• Assist in documenting methods or in method/protocol development

• Attend meetings/training as part of a study team

• Contribute to a motivated environment in which all team members are respected and valued

• Conduct all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty while working independently or as a team

• Comply with critical safety rules; carry out job responsibilities in safe manner

• Provide protection to technologies and products through non-disclosure of activities outside of the work environment

Skills and Qualifications

Be flexible in moving between tasks using good time-management skills.

Be able to work independently or as a team and take work direction from work coordinators. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Apply basic mechanical aptitude principles.

Must have a working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Software

Possessing 2-4 years of post-high school technical education or laboratory experience is a plus.
