Responsible for processing and distributing of patient specimens for lab testing adhering to department standard operating procedures. May analyze, evaluate, and report patient results. May collect and transport patient specimens. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment, represent the lab in a professional manner, and provide excellent customer service.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 18 years of age required. High school education or equivalent required. Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills required. Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in clinical laboratory medicine preferred. Direct patient care experience or completion of Phlebotomy course or Phlebotomy experience preferred (dependent on area of responsibility). Post-secondary education in a laboratory or health-related field preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Computer experience preferred. Attention to detail preferred. Ability to multitask preferred. PBT (ASCP) depending on area of responsibility preferred. # # #

This position contributes to the mission and vision of CHI Health by performing waived to moderate complexity laboratory testing according to established QC protocol under direct supervision of a medical technologist or medical laboratory technician. Identifies problems ( technical, instrumental, physiological), and brings it to the attention of a technologist or technician. * Performs phlebotomy, transports, receives, prepares and accurately tests biological specimens using procedures consistent with safe work practices and proper laboratory technique while maintaining integrity of specimens. * Performs waived and moderate complex testing as allowed by CLIA regulations. * Critically evaluates specimens and correlates all lab results to the clinical picture of each individual. Communicates and documents all testing and results in a timely manner to clinical personnel involved in patient care. * Maintains and operates test systems for optimal performance; collaborates with tech or technician to resolve technical issues. * Follows CAP and all regulatory guidelines, demonstrating consistent adherence to national patient safety goals. * Pe Education/Licensure: Required: High School diploma or GED. Preferred: Associates or Bachelors of Science Degree, One year clinical or laboratory experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Problem solving, communication skills (verbal and written), performing scientific testing, along with ability to use lab equipment, general clerical equipment, telephones, and computers.
