We are currently searching for a Laboratory Supervisor that will compliment and grow the Enology lab. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys improving communication, leading a team, being detail oriented, and has a strong work ethic.
Assists and manages all lab activities, including but not limited to: sampling, equipment and general maintenance, daily analysis, chemical prep, and troubleshooting.
Maintains laboratory SOPs and safety protocols to ensure they are current with industry standards.
Ensures lab and equipment adhere to set quality standards across the wine industry.
Must be able to prioritize samples accordingly and anticipate the needs of winemaking and cellar teams.
Responsible for maintaining proper inventory in the lab of all supplies.
Responsible for creating data files and implementing new data management systems.
Recommend new equipment and implement new laboratory skills and techniques.
Generate reports summarizing data, and provide winemaking with actionable results
Analyzes QA data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Provides winemaking with input on winemaking decisions.
Manages relationships with outside clients and maintains records of provided lab services.
Ensure all laboratory activities are done safely, properly, and in a timely manner to meet production needs.
Communicate clearly with coworkers and coordinate work across different departments.
Cross train with other departments and fills in when necessary.
Responsible for growing the lab team: providing meaningful feedback, reviews, training, and teambuilding activities.
Maintains a healthy and positive working environment.
Manage lab training program and provide growth opportunities to the lab team.
Provide support for all internal and external customers. Represent the department in all facility-wide discussions.
Minimum B.A. or B.S. in chemistry, enology or related fields required. Or equivalent experience required.
Science-minded individual with good working knowledge of laboratory practices and analytical instrumentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs
Must be willing to work flexible, long, and varying hours. Must be able to work 10 hour shifts Monday Thursday. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays may be required during harvest months and other busy times of the year.
May be asked to work in all types of weather conditions
Will be asked to climb ladders, walk on catwalks; must be comfortable with moderate heights
Must be at least 21 years of age
