Position:

We are currently searching for a Laboratory Supervisor that will compliment and grow the Enology lab. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys improving communication, leading a team, being detail oriented, and has a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists and manages all lab activities, including but not limited to: sampling, equipment and general maintenance, daily analysis, chemical prep, and troubleshooting.

  • Maintains laboratory SOPs and safety protocols to ensure they are current with industry standards.

  • Ensures lab and equipment adhere to set quality standards across the wine industry.

  • Must be able to prioritize samples accordingly and anticipate the needs of winemaking and cellar teams.

  • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory in the lab of all supplies.

  • Responsible for creating data files and implementing new data management systems.

  • Recommend new equipment and implement new laboratory skills and techniques.

  • Generate reports summarizing data, and provide winemaking with actionable results

  • Analyzes QA data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Provides winemaking with input on winemaking decisions.

  • Manages relationships with outside clients and maintains records of provided lab services.

Leadership:

  • Ensure all laboratory activities are done safely, properly, and in a timely manner to meet production needs.

  • Communicate clearly with coworkers and coordinate work across different departments.

  • Cross train with other departments and fills in when necessary.

  • Responsible for growing the lab team: providing meaningful feedback, reviews, training, and teambuilding activities.

  • Maintains a healthy and positive working environment.

  • Manage lab training program and provide growth opportunities to the lab team.

  • Provide support for all internal and external customers. Represent the department in all facility-wide discussions.

Skills Required:

  • Minimum B.A. or B.S. in chemistry, enology or related fields required. Or equivalent experience required.

  • Science-minded individual with good working knowledge of laboratory practices and analytical instrumentation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs

  • Must be willing to work flexible, long, and varying hours. Must be able to work 10 hour shifts Monday Thursday. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays may be required during harvest months and other busy times of the year.

  • May be asked to work in all types of weather conditions

  • Will be asked to climb ladders, walk on catwalks; must be comfortable with moderate heights

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

VIEW JOBS 2/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-22T00:00 This position performs all aspects of pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic activities of the laboratory path of workflow appropriate for the Clinical Laboratory section (s) to which assigned, which includes one or more of the Shared Laboratory clinical specialties; Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology (no microscopy), Urinalysis (no microscopy), and Coagulation. This position may not perform any Blood Bank testing. Analytical testing is performed on blood and/or body fluids, utilizing both manual and automated methods, to obtain information necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Where automated methods are used, this position provides preventive maintenance for analytical equipment and performs minor adjustments and repairs. Education: * Associates degree in clinical laboratory or related sciences or equivalent college education, with hospital and/or commercial clinical lab training in an approved program. * Must be licensed in California. Note: pending license acceptable with proof of passing ASCP exam and submission to State of California within 90 days of employment. Experience: * At least six (6) months experience in one or more of the clinical specialties areas of the Shared Laboratory is desired. Training my be counted toward the recent working experience. * Experience with computers, including Microsoft, electronic mail, internet, etc. * Customer service and satisfaction Knowledge and Skills: * In-depth knowledge of theory, test applications and process control of one or more of the clinical specialty areas of the Shared Laboratory. * Knowledge of basic laboratory information technology and computer concepts is also required * Must be able to ensure the operational readiness of complex laboratory analyzers and methods through technical expertise and effective method management. * Must also be able to operate analyzers and equipment to produce accurate, timely test results. * Must demonstrate an ability to effectively identify pre, post and analytic process variations and take appropriate and timely corrective action. * Must have proven written and verbal communication skills * Must be adept at performing a wide variety of routine and/or specialized testing using manual and automated methods with speed and extreme accuracy Physical Requirements: * Mobility is required, as well as the ability to alternately sit and stand for several hours at a time. * Must have considerable manual dexterity to accomplish such tasks as pipeting, instrument operation/maintenance and computer data entry. * Must possess the visual acuity to accurately distinguish shades of color, correctly differentiate between similar shapes and forms, and produce "streams" of numerical data in correct sequence. * Must have the ability to perform computerized tasks such as word processing Sutter Health Livermore CA
