POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dries lab at Boston Medical Center and the Boston University Medical Campus is seeking a skilled and motivated lab manager with demonstrated relevant expertise to join our dynamic team. The lab manager will provide research and operational support for the experimental and technological components of the lab. This role is approximately 65% bench research, 10% data analysis and writing, and 25% logistical and administrative support, but is flexible depending on the applicant's interest. Research focus will be on understanding how the cellular microenvironment contributes to breast cancer development and resistance to therapy. The lab manager will work closely with clinical and scientific collaborators and members in the lab. Individuals with experience or interest in tissue histology, clinical sample processing, and the emerging field of spatial omics that are also dedicated, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to groundbreaking discoveries are encouraged to apply!

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct sample processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Collaborate with scientists at BU/BMC to troubleshoot technical issues related to the spatial omics assays.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to lab members, including training on proper sample handling, processing techniques, and instrument operation.
Administrative duties such as ordering lab supplies/equipment and keeping track of consumables.
Assist in data analysis and interpretation, including the visualization and quantification of spatial imaging data.
Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments, procedures, and results.
Keep up-to-date with advancements in spatial biology assays and contribute to the implementation of new methodologies.
This position is part of a multidisciplinary team comprised of physicians, researchers, biostatisticians, and computer scientists. There is ample opportunity for development within this role, which is well-supported by senior research faculty. This position is ideal for investigators with interest and experience in cancer biology and genomics, looking to make a substantial contribution to public research and health within a diverse and enthusiastic research team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Expertise in histology and/or sample processing techniques, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and provide technical guidance to team members.
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and the ability to adhere to strict quality control standards.
Familiarity with molecular biology techniques and experience with nucleic acid extraction, PCR, IHC/IF, NGS, and/or single cell RNA sequencing is a plus.
Ability to adapt to changing research needs and work both independently and as part of a team.
