The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia is seeking a new Lab Manager and Research Assistant to support faculty members Eileen Chou and Benjamin Converse. The incumbent assists with administering behavioral studies in the lab and in field settings; prepares data sets and conducts basic analyses; builds an active participant pool for research studies; and collaborates to produce experimental stimuli (experience with Media Lab, Direct RT, Qualtrics, Inquisit a plus). The Lab Manager works closely with graduate student and postdoctoral researchers, provides training and supervision to undergraduate research assistants, and coordinates data collection.

The incumbent provides administrative support such as ordering supplies and organizing lab meetings, and meets with the principal investigators and/or graduate researchers weekly about progress and goal-setting and other duties as assigned. The Lab Manager plays an integral role in ensuring that lab goals are met and progress is tracked.

A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is required. At least 2 years of related experience in a lab or research setting is required, experience obtained while a student will be considered.

Applicants must demonstrate familiarity with social psychology research methods. The ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team in a collaborative setting is required. Applicants must be highly organized, and demonstrate strong attention to detail.

The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is essential. Working knowledge of statistics and proficiency in statistical programming such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, and/or R is required. Ideally, applicants would demonstrate knowledge of computer programming (Python, JSON) and/or have working knowledge of APIs.

Position Compensation Range: $35,000.00 - $44,000.00 Hourly

This is a one year restricted position, continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.

They manage departmental programs and projects. In addition to managing complex clinical trials programs, Clinical Research Managers direct the work of a sufficient number of employees so that a significant amount of their time is spent supervising teams * Supervise the Clinical Research staff, manage resources, and participate in clinical research policy and procedure development. Work within and outside the University, soliciting clinical research opportunities, promoting the University's resource capabilities, and managing affiliate institutions. * Implement protocols and on-going quality review of clinical research. * Oversee financial accounting regarding clinical research projects, including budget development and billing reconciliation, as well as quality review. * Develop grant proposals and submissions, prepare research protocols and consent documentation, and design source documents and case report forms. * Hire, train, and manage teams including scheduling, workload management, compensation, rewards, development, and performance management. * May perform all duties of a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator, as needed, but primary focus of job is management of clinical trials. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Non-licensed possess a Bachelor's degree, and licensed managers have at least an Associate's degree Experience: With at least six years of progressively responsible clinical research experience including clinical trials budgeting, managing clinical trials protocols, and training staff. Licensure: Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) is required. Related Master's degree with significant work experience may substitute, with certification required within one year of eligibility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
