We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Contract Lab Management Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating lab equipment maintenance, procuring lab supplies, and ensuring smooth and safe lab operations through active collaboration with lab users.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the laboratory maintenance and calibration schedule to ensure all equipment is functioning optimally.

  • Coordinate lab equipment maintenance and calibration events with research groups.

  • Manage relationships with third-party suppliers for maintenance and calibration services.

  • Ensure the availability of lab equipment and supplies to support ongoing research needs.

  • Serve as the system administrator for the Rees equipment monitoring system, acting as a backup for alarm responses related to incubators, refrigerators, and freezers.

  • Mentor and train lab users on the Ress system to ensure on-call readiness.

  • Process contract and purchase requests for lab equipment and supplies.

  • Actively oversee laboratory supply inventory for general use areas.

  • Maintain an up-to-date equipment asset log and manage the distribution and collection of lab notebooks.

  • Perform routine lab inspections and collaborate with lab users to ensure safety compliance.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency of the laboratory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related physical science. >1 year experience with laboratory equipment operation, maintenance and/or repair OR Associate degree from an accredited college or university, with 3-5 years related experience in equipment operation, maintenance and/or repair.

  • 2 to 3 years of lab management experience including inventory and equipment management.

  • Exposure to laboratory and safety protocols, either as a Research Assistant (RA) or in lab management.

  • Experience handling vendors for equipment and lab supplies.

  • Proficient in using MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint system.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
