Employee will work 30 Hours per week

POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED
This position will oversee daily operations and assist students assigned to the Upward Bound's computer lab. The Lab Instructor will maintain applicable software and necessary resource materials.
This position reports to the Program Director, Upward Bound and exercises no supervision. Employee may not exceed 30 hours per week. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Knowledge of: 1. Principles and best practices in computer lab operations. 2.
Pertinent Federal, State, and college laws, rules, and regulations tutoring software and resource material. 3. Computer applications, such as Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe. 4. Trends and needs of students who are first generation, low-income, or have a disability.
Skills in: 5. Critical thinking and problem solving. 6. Providing comprehensive instruction. 7.
Basic record keeping and accurate data entry. Ability to: 8. Interpret and apply department policies, procedures, rules and regulations. 9. communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 10.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. 11. Effectively relate to high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds. 12. Work independently without close supervision and as a team. 13.
Assist students with computer lab technology and resources. 14. Learn new software quickly and stay abreast of new software applications.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: More than one year of experience working with low-income and/or first-generation students.
