Position Summary:

Co-op/ Intern employees in the Quality area will support Qualtiy or Lab projects, learn to use the plant testing equipment, learn plant operations and the need for product testing & GMPs. Work with the Quality Manager to support his work functions.

Core Functions:

  • Acquire knowledge of various unit operations, functions, and process flow

  • Observe work assignments performed by others and participate in hands-on projects and/or special assignments.

  • Maintain communication with Quality Manager and others as necessary to include feedback on assignments.

  • Assist Quality Manager with the management of projects, audits, food safety training and contractors as required.

  • Acquire knowledge of quality/lab tech skills and apply that knowledge to specific jobs.

  • Conduct various analytical tests on site products

  • Enter data using spreadsheets and other laboratory database programs

  • Assist with project management as required with the direct supervision of the quality manager.

  • Conduct safety training and audits as needed for the work being performed.

Skill/Experience Requirements:

  • Must be an active, full-time student at the time of application

  • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours by the end of the spring semester in the year in which application is made

  • Must be in good academic standing

  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Operates EBM machines, according to machine (product) standard. * Works at different work stations as production needs require. * Works on line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line. * Check all finished parts for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects). * Monitors SPC data and Enters QC checks into system. * Packs all parts which are of good quality into totes, in preparation for sealing and shipping. * Notifies Lead Person, Process Technician and/or Production Supervisor whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair. * Maintains housekeeping of work areas. * Enters Any Downtime into the FMS System * Documents Any Machine Process Adjustments in the machine log books. * Performs any other duties assigned by Management. * This is an overview of the position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs routine production functions necessary to operate the production, quality, and distribution equipment to meet customer specifications. * Operates EBM machines, according to machine (product) standard. * Works at different work stations as production needs require. * Inspects parts per line requirements. * Performs various manual and mechanical production functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the production equipment to meet customer specifications. * Performs record keeping duties as required under the direction of management. * Conducts inspection of in-process materials and in-process and finished products. Notifies management when product does not meet quality standards. * Identifies inefficiencies and potential mechanical problems and coordinates through supervisor to resolve. * Inputs daily production data * Completes required quality checks * Perform minor processing changes * Trials work as assigned * Line Rework * Palletize FG * Start up, stop, restart, unjam various equipment ie: Hopper, strapper, stretch wrapper, ALPS, spin trimmer, trolly, row former, divertor, conveyor, etc, Level of Authority and Authorization You have the right to hold for inspection; any product you feel does not meet customer/company specifications. * Those employees with authorized training, have the ability to shut down/stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety. * Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working condition or job environment. * Authority to stop any observed unsafe practices. POSITION REQUIRMENTS Knowledge/Skills/Education * Requires high school diploma or equivalent. * Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred * Ability to read, write and understand English. * Basic computer and mathematical skills * Complete an interview process. * External Candidates: * Basic and / or advanced operation of EBM equipment (3 years-experience minimum with EBM equipment / machinery. * Experience on minor mechanical repairs * Experience performing PMs * Experience performing minor troubleshooting and programming * Internal Candidates: * Must be trained and certified as an OP I Level III or have 2 years length of service * Must meet be able to perform the essential duties of the position * Must have less than 7 points * Must be in good standing - no current Final Warnings * Must be in current position for 6 months (New hire would be considered if no qualified co-workers have applied) * Pass entry level aptitude test with a 75% or better WORK ENVIRONMENT Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. This position requires the use of eye protection, hearing protection in designated areas. When handling a sharp object or tool a cut glove must be worn per safety requirements. Other required PPE is task specific. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
