As a Lab Automation Engineer, you will provide engineering and technical support of automated/digital solutions to the QC Lab Value Stream in a biopharm manufacturing facility. You will demonstrate ownership of site owned lab automation systems and solutions through day-to-day support, continuous improvement, and project delivery.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Provide technical delivery & support of automation systems, digital solutions, and networks & integrations, related to QC Lab operations. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, generate recommendations, and then develop/implement solutions to correct and resolve.

  • Provide support for automated liquid handlers and lab robotics (Hamilton STAR, Tecan EVO, Biosero) in a GMP environment. Support day-to-day operations, execute scaling and continuous improvement, and maintain related project plans. Maintain the hardware, systems and applications, and software. Execute changes in a way that meet standards aligned to various quality systems (e.g. computer system validation, change control, etc.).

  • Contribute directly to capital projects - feasibility assessments, concept and scheme design development, and project execution.

  • Drive performance in the QC Lab through further digitization and digitalization, as well as through building end user capability and championing digital transformation.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders

  • R&D, QA, Validation - regarding method development, alignment of equipment & software, test/validation efficiency, and analytical method tech transfer.
  • As needed, contribute to enterprise scaling of a standard automated liquid handling solution.

  • Work in a way that models respect for safety and EHS, quality compliance, data integrity, cybersecurity and GSK standards.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Life Sciences, Biology or equivalent technical discipline
  • 2+ years relevant technical or scientific experience
  • 2+ years with Automated Liquid Handler platform scripting (e.g. Hamilton, Tecan, etc.)
  • 2+ years developing and executing biopharmaceutical assays/methods and operating/troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
  • 2+ years in a GMP QC Lab environment (e.g. technical delivery/support, QC analyst, end user, etc).

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience with complex laboratory workcells and orchestration (e.g. Green Button Go, Cellario, Momentum)

  • Experience coding VB/C/Java languages

  • Experience coding data structures (e.g. JSON, XML)

  • Experience supporting the validation of lab computer systems

  • Experience in design, programming, start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of integrated laboratory equipment with electronic data and archive systems

  • Experience in systems/account administration, network design, and server troubleshooting

  • Experience in the general functions of sample management and relational databases

  • Experience with automated/automating data flows from testing design through analytical equipment and into LIMS/ELN systems.
