Description

The Production Lab Assistant assists production scientists with the less technical aspects of product manufacturing. Good work habits and keen attention to detail are essential for success in this position. As an entry-level position in the production department, it presents an excellent opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge needed for more advanced production roles.

Responsibilities

  • Product packaging

  • Product labeling

  • Preparing lab reagents

  • Cleaning and stocking laboratory

  • Compounding'making buffers, mixing chemicals, using pH meter, making dilutions, adjusting dilutions, doing titrations, making pools, making aliquots, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Respectful of coworkers, superiors, customers and vendors

Required Skills

  • Excellent observation skills and keen attention to details

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Good Info Tech skills (MS Office and laboratory software)

  • Excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills

Education - Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • BS candidate in microbiology, biology or related field preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50lbs

VIEW JOBS 10/24/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-22T00:00 Job Title: Laboratory Assistant, Testing Services Job Type: Full Time Non-Exempt Location: Pullman, WA Description The Testing Services Division of VMRD Inc. performs virology and microbiology regulatory testing on animal origin products that are sent to us both domestically and internationally. The Laboratory Assistant (LA) will aide Services Scientists in daily laboratory operations including cell culture work, microbiological work, and various other assays. Due to the sensitivity and large volume of testing performed in the laboratory, the LA must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be detail oriented, communicate effectively among co-workers, follow/repeat instructions, and effectively multi-task. Although this is an entry level position, it provides an excellent opportunity to acquire new skills and laboratory knowledge for more advanced roles at VMRD. Responsibilities * Learn and maintain proficiency in following all assigned laboratory SOPs. * Maintain paperwork as per all related SOPs and Quality Manual * Restocking of lab supplies. * Cleaning of labs and biosafety cabinets. * Produce media and laboratory reagents. * Handling virus and test article inoculated cultures. * Report progress and problems during assays to the appropriate person. * Receive and record incoming test samples. * Assist in training new personnel as needed. * Perform all other related duties as assigned. * Ability to work in a hood, measure liquids and weigh ingredients, use a pipette, work with chemicals and maintain a sterile environment. Desired Qualifications * Excellent multi-tasking and prioritization skills * Good verbal and information technology skills (MS Office) * Ability to work in a time sensitive environment * Outstanding observational skills and the ability to pay attention to details * Related laboratory experience a plus but willing to train the right person * High School Diploma or GED required.
