Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Laboratory Assistant II Position is available in the Laboratory of Membrane Biology on the VA GLAHS campus, funded through UCLA Department of Pediatrics. Work closely with an MD in Pediatric Gastroenterology and a PhD Senior Research Physiologist to perform experiments involving the gastric pathogen Helicobacter pylori. Job duties include preparing solutions, cleaning glassware, ordering supplies, maintaining bacterial and cell cultures, working with small animal model systems and human tissue samples, performing experiments, and collecting/cataloging data.

Please note that this is a full-time 18 month limited position and may convert to career.

Salary Range: $22.02 - $25.90 Hourly

All Required:

  • Ability to use excel and word.

  • Ability to perform basic chemistry calculations (molarity, dilutions).

  • Ability to speak, understand, and write English.

  • Ability to maintain a legible laboratory notebook.

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and regulations.

  • Ability to handle small animals.

  • Bachelor's degree with science background.

  • Must be eligible to work in California (compensation is through UCLA)
