Laboratory Analysts perform a variety of analysis and tests of refinery products, process streams and environmental samples in a technically complex, highly automated refinery laboratory. Analysts are responsible for maintaining and operating the equipment used in testing and analysis.
The Laboratory Analyst may be responsible for:
Analyze samples and record data in accordance with accepted methods and standard operating procedures.
Report substandard conditions, equipment/instrument malfunctions, calibration failures, or other nonconformance's to Lab supervision.
Perform basic preventative maintenance on the laboratory equipment, knock engines and instrumentation.
Analyze QC samples and report results promptly; take defined corrective action when needed.
Follow all quality policies and procedures.
Prepare standards and solutions as needed
Evaluate and perform calibrations of laboratory instrumentation as required by procedures
Use basic functions of SAP system including entry of work times
Help maintain lab supply inventories and order lab supplies as needed
Proactively supporting and serve our customers.
Assist in maintaining a safe working environment which conforms to Phillips 66 and governmental standards.
Stay up-to-date on all required CBT and procedural training/reviews
Know and observe safe work practices including wearing personal protective equipment.
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Must have a High School diploma or GED
Associates Degree in Chemistry or related field AND five years of lab experience in a refinery or chemical plant. Without a degree, 10 years of lab experience in a refinery or chemical plant is required.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/twic/index.shtm
18 years of age or older
Demonstrated familiarity with Industry and corporate standards and Best-Practices as applicable within a plant environment
Basic computer skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills
Strong personal initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation:
o To work some overtime, nights, and weekends according to business need
o Move items weighing up to 50 pounds
o To wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment, such as steel toed boots, ear and eye protection
o To maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can properly seal
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field
Knowledge of applicable ASTM, EPA, Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements.
Ability to learn and perform all procedures used in a Quality Control Lab for product testing.

Demonstrates interpersonal and teamwork skills to coordinate necessary activities among a diverse group, while breaking down barriers that separate these groups.
