NBC 5's News Internship provides students with real-world experience and exposure to working in a Top 5 television market. As a paid summer intern, you will work alongside either our digital or consumer investigative teams on a variety of challenging and fulfilling assignments. You will be immersed in a positive work environment with an emphasis on asking questions and providing learning opportunities for growth within your desired field. Our News department is eager for you to acquire new skills and abilities you will continue to use throughout your career. Upon completion of the summer internship program, you will gain broad experience in various aspects of marketing and journalism within a high-energy newsroom.
Successful interns will demonstrate a passion for learning and the ability to step out of their comfort zone. If you are a highly motivated, you can communicate effectively, and you can function as a team member or independently in a fast-paced news marketing environment, we would like to meet you!
Current Class standing of Junior or above
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a Visa or sponsorship
Currently attending an accredited college or university and working towards a degree
Must be willing to work at our station in Fort Worth, just south of DFW airport
Must have successfully completed courses in journalism, communication, and other supplemental courses
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Previous relevant internship/ volunteer experience is a plus
Experience in the following digital programs is a plus: CMS, INews, Slack, Social Flow, Stratus, Microsoft Office, Outlook
