The role of a Safety Manager is to act as a resource for coworkers about how to uphold regulatory safety standards and complete tasks while limiting risk of bodily injury. Safety manager share knowledge with their team by conducting training and creating informational materials that they post around the workplace. Safety Managers also handle administrative aspects of workplace safety like applying for permits, purchasing safety equipment and investing in designs that limit risk. They confirm that all of their employees have the appropriate certifications to operate heavy machinery and set standards for testing and maintenance to prevent dangerous malfunctions.Job Responsibility:
Perform specialized administrative duties required to support the specific program area, using discretion to make judgments based on operating guidelines. Support purchasing requirements for department, researching items and obtaining price quotes, entering information into university systems, receiving purchase orders, and maintaining P-Card information as required.
Support human resource and payroll processes as a primary contact or backup for payroll preparation or certification, leave tracking, appointment papers, and other requirements.
Prepares and maintains maintenance related documents; daily report and check sheet
Must have Osha 30 Certification (provide certification fee)
Overtime can be occurring
Flexible work with weekend if it possible (Additional allowance $350.00/ per day)
Requirements:
An Associate's degree in office administration or a related field may be preferred
Experience using business email services, such as Microsoft Outlook
In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to lead and teach a team
Great attention to detail
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
Excellent organizational skills
Comfort multitasking and handling multiple requests from different individuals and departments
Ability to work quickly and in a potentially high-stress environment
