Job Purpose:

Perform tasks in various machining departments: EZ Grind, Speed Lathe, De-burring, Tumbling, Electro Chemical polishing, Assembly, Visual inspection, Grit blasting, Taping, Cleaning & Passivating, Abrasive cutting, Masking, End rounding/Chamfering, Tip guarding & Packaging. Set up, operate & tend equipment & machines. Operate processes to achieve blueprints parts specs. Perform precision lapping & mechanical finishing of parts. File grooved, contoured, & irregular surfaces of metal objects to conform to specs. Grind, sand, polish parts using various tools. Inspect workpieces & assemblies at assembly, inspection or needle machines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate machines, achieving print specifications including quality and through put.

  • Implement continuous improvement activities. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Perform JobBOSS transactions.

  • Perform required daily maintenance to equipment and tools.

  • Work from established procedures and prescribed operation sequences to achieve parts per print and quality spec.

  • Handle critical, expensive and fragile machine components.

  • Maintain quality of product being produced by using gages, tools, visual aids, etc.

  • Measure dimensions, between reference points, using precision instruments, to ensure product meets specification.

  • Cut, press, de-burr or assemble variety of small and fragile medical components using tools or machines.

  • Operate & tend machines, wash or clean products, remove impurities, degrease metal components & set up baskets of components & operate wet processing lines.

  • Passivate and/or electro polish stainless steel components in a bulk processing line.

  • Degrease and sonic clean metallic and non-metallic component parts.

  • Measure & maintain bath concentrations & record data. Perform pH measurements & titration analysis with specific testing procedures & protocol.

  • Change chemicals in process equipment along with handling of spent or contaminated solutions and document.

  • De-burr, belt sand, degrease and sonic clean machine parts or castings as directed by process and routing.

  • Using various bench grinders and belt sanders, produce features as required from process sheets and blueprints.

  • Abrasive blast components utilizing manual, semi-automatic and automatic equipment to desired blueprint and/or specifications. During processing, maintain equipment and change media as needed.

  • Observe machine operation. Remove & inspect workpiece to verify conformance of specs using measuring instruments.

  • Simultaneous to machine operation, perform a variety of secondary operations as required.

Level of Skill, Education and Experience:

H.S. diploma or equivalent & at least 6 months manufacturing experience required. Experience in machine shop, medical device manufacturing or metals a plus. Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, specs & quality plans. Strong oral & written communication skills. Follow written & verbal instructions & capable of meeting assigned deadlines. Good manual dexterity & ability to use measurement & inspection tools: micrometers, comparators, microscope, etc. is a must. Good work habits, strong workmanship & positive attitude are required.
